Holguin native Lizabeth Godales was close to qualifying for the rhythmic gymnastics clubs final at the II Youth Pan American Games, held in Asuncion, Paraguay.
Godales finished ninth in the elimination round with 20.800 points and was one of the reserves. Just 0.750 points behind local Ana Carolina de Conto (21.550) and a step away from reaching the top eight.
In the ribbon classification, also on August 12th, Lizabeth finished sixteenth with 16.200 points.
This Monday marked her debut in the individual tournament, and she accumulated 18.950 points in hoop (15th) and 17.050 in ball to finish seventeenth.
After all four elements were counted, the Holguin native. The only Cuban in the individual event, finished in 17th place with a total of 73.000. In a competition won by American Natalie Angelique de la Rosa (101.400).
So far, the Holguin delegation has only a bronze medal, won by Félix Puentes, in the eight-oar coxed event.
