Nine Holguin baseball players participate in a Try Out

This Tuesday and Wednesday, try outs designed by the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation are taking place in the western, central, and eastern parts of the country to evaluate the country’s top talent.

In the western region, exhibitions will take place at the Latinoamericano stadium, with players from Havana and Isla de la Juventud, and at the Victoria de Girón stadium in Matanzas, with local athletes from Mayabeque and Artemisa. Those selected from Pinar del Rio will have their tryout on home turf, where the U-15 pre-selection team trains.

Moreover the promising young players from the central region, from Villa Clara, Sancti Spiritus, Cienfuegos, and Camagüey, will showcase their talents on the field of the Augusto César Sandino stadium in Santa Clara.

The eastern zone, with players from Santiago de Cuba, Holguin, Granma, and Guantanamo, has players from Guillermón Moncada from Santiago de Cuba. Julio Antonio Mella from Las Tunas, for the local team, and members of the U-18 national pre-selection team that trains there.

Nine Holguin players were selected for this rigorous technical test: José Antonio Estrada Jardines, Luis Gustabo Portuondo. Yordankis de la Paz Cardoso, and Fabio Alejandro Carralero Martínez from the U-15 category. The latter a member of the national pre-selection team.

Also Anthony Calderón, a member of the national pre-selection team, was chosen from the U-18 category. While Andrys Agüero, Cristian Onofre, Andrew Valido, and Raúl Pupo from the U-23 category.

In conclusion the grand final of this national tryout is scheduled for the 24th and 26th at the José Ramón Cepero Stadium in Ciego de Avila. It will feature the best exponents from the three zones.
