Trump’s self-proclaimed “border czar,” Tom Homan, is pushing to create 100,000 beds for detained migrants, more than double the system’s current capacity.

The Trump administration’s deportation plan even contemplates the creation of prisons abroad to hold migrants classified as “dangerous.” Centers like Cecot in El Salvador evoke grim memories of Guantanamo Bay: violated fundamental rights and inhumane treatment conditions.

Data compiled by the organization Witness at the Border reveals that. So far this year, more than 350 deportation flights have been recorded, transporting nearly 50,000 migrants. These flights are destined not only for neighboring countries but also for distant nations such as Costa Rica and Panama. Highlighting the global reach of these deportations.

Under the Alien Enemies Act, entire communities are criminalized and stripped of their rights, thus facilitating mass deportations.

The attempt to send deportees to Libya, a country that has become the European Union’s gendarme in stemming migration, is deeply concerning.

Rwanda is also in the spotlight, having received payments from the United States in exchange for accepting migrants. Despite its troubling human rights record, which includes reports of extrajudicial killings.
