Cuba celebrates against Germany in Volleyball Nations League (m)

Against all odds, the Cuban men’s team triumphed this Wednesday in four sets against their German counterparts in the continuation of the 2025 Volleyball Nations League.

After the bulk of their starters arrived just hours before the match, no one predicted a victory for the Caribbean team against the Europeans, who lead them in the world ranking.

However, after the Germans won the first set 25-19, the Cubans responded and took the next three, with scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-21, bringing their record to two wins and three losses in the competition.

Crucial was the contribution of José Miguel Gutiérrez, the top scorer of the match with 20 points, 19 in attacks and one in serve, and now Cuba is ranked tenth in the competition.

Meanwhile, in the Bulgarian city of Burgas, France swept Ukraine 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, and 25-17), bringing their record to three wins and two losses and temporarily rising to sixth place.
