The eastern province of Holguin is foreseeing the dangers of natural, technological and sanitary disasters in the context of the Meteoro 2025 Popular Exercise.
A rich program of activities was designed for this Saturday and Sunday with the objective of being aware of the surveillance systems of the territory for the different dangers and to study, from theory and practice, the ways to counteract its possible consequences.
With the presence of Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the Party and president of the Provincial Defense Council. A meeting was held this Saturday with leaders of different institutions to learn about meteorological, climatic, atmospheric pollution, seismological, hydrological and hygienic-epidemiological updates.
It was informed that although Holguin is not the province most affected by the drought. It’s head municipality is the most vulnerable in that aspect at the country level. To which Queipo Ruiz insisted that local measures must be adopted.
He recommended considering the revitalization and creation of artesian wells as well as the generalization of good practices for water supply. Such as those observed today in the town of Limpio Chiquito, in Cacocum.
On the other hand, the probabilities of impact of the upcoming cyclonic season were evaluated and it was emphasized that in the event of a seismological event. The mining-metallurgical municipality of Moa has great dangers associated with toxic substances.
During the meeting it was emphasized that the worst scenarios must always be foreseen in order to guarantee the safety of the population and economic assets.
