Race The best current Holguin runner and one of the best in Cuba, Yuleisis La O Terrero, from Mota, was the overall winner and titleholder in the Master A category in Holguin’s iconic Olympics Romerías race.
Terrero, among the best 42-kilometer runners in Cuba, easily completed the shorter course, which started in Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Park and finished in the parking lot of the Mayor General Calixto García Íñiguez Stadium.
Also taking first place were Julio Portelles Aguilera (Libre, Cacocum municipality), César Marrero Alméciga (Master B, Holguin), Enrique Germánico Áreas Castillo (Master C, Granma), and Leonel Mayo López (Master D, Las Tunas).
In the Associations, for Aclifim, the one-two was won by son and father, Luis Ángel Durán Sablón and Luis Manuel Durán Montero, both from Sagua de Tánamo.
Daer Rodríguez Sánchez won among those with intellectual disabilities. The children’s category was dominated by Kayla María Peña Prat and Benjamín Cepero Labañino.
The race, although this time it did not coincide with the “Romerías” (Pilgrimages), represents an important connection between sport and the event that every May makes Holguin the capital of young artists.
