President Miguel Díaz–Canel congratulated the Union of Young Communists (UJC) and the Organization of José Martí Pioneers (OPJM). On the occasion of the respective anniversaries of their foundations this Friday.

As Díaz–Canel commented on the social network itself. “April 4 will always be a day of celebration for those who were. Who are and who will be, proud pioneers of the OPJM and committed militants of the UJC.”
On April 4, 1961, the Union of Rebel Pioneers was born. Which later assumed the name of Union of Pioneers of Cuba and during the III Congress of the UJC, in 1977, it became the current OPJM.
The organization develops in children and adolescents an interest in study. Social responsibility and love for the Homeland, among other values.
Exactly one year later, in 1962, the UJC was constituted. At the proposal of the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro. During the closing of the First Congress of the then Association of Young Rebels.
In addition to Díaz–Canel‘s, other government and party leaders of the Caribbean nation also posted congratulatory messages on various platforms.
