Leased transport means in Holguin province have revitalized passenger transportation by transporting more than 10 million people so far this year; being an effective alternative to the low technical coefficient of availability.
Wilmer García Ramírez, director of the Provincial Enterprise of the sector, reported to the Cuban News Agency that, before such problems, as the hard situation while purchasing parts and pieces for the vehicle fleet, Resolution 207/2021 was issued, which regulates this strategy.
Currently, the territory has a technical coefficient of availability of less than 40 percent, of which 238 are rented vehicles, including Yutong buses and Diana buses, trucks, dredges and smaller cars, with a predominance of those used for passenger transportation, he explained.
There are 90 buses planned to this task, which provide services to 45 urban routes and inter-municipal routes, among which Holguin and Mayari stand out, with 11 and 38 buses, respectively, he said.
He also added that priority is given to stretches with the highest traffic of people and to institutions of vital importance for health and education, such as the three provincial hospitals and the José Martí Vocational Institute in the provincial capital city, with about nine means of transportation, with about nine state-owned means and leased ones.
The executive commented that one of the main limitations of these forms of management is the shortage and delay of physical fuel for purchase, which affects the flow of transport in general, and particularly the easternmost municipalities of Frank País, Sagua de Tánamo and Moa.
The implementation of Resolution 207/2021 in Holguín has not only allowed for the improvement of passenger and cargo transportation, but has also facilitated the recovery of part of the aging and deteriorated fleet, and in its structure and damaged by the lack of major aggregates, melted engines and tools for their repair.
