Millions of protesters join anti-Trump No Kings protests in the US

This Saturday, millions of people across the United States gathered to protest against President Donald Trump’s administration under the slogan No Kings.

The organizers of the event say that Americans attended the protests nationwide to denounce the tightening of immigration laws. The deployment of law enforcement in communities, US support for Israel and involvement in wars. As well as the “attacks” on freedom of expression and civil rights.

More than 3,200 demonstrations were held in all 50 states. With the rally at the Minnesota State Capitol being the national flagship event. Also where immigration enforcement operations resulted in two deaths in January. Demonstrations were also planned in more than a dozen countries in Europe and Latin America, as well as in Australia.

This day of protest comes at a time when Trump is mired in a war condemned by most. With his already low approval ratings plummeting in the polls. Soaring prices fueled by rising oil costs and significant stock market declines. And growing public anger over violent attacks against immigrant communities. Also with citizens and even officials rejecting what they call unjust actions against their neighbors.

Moreover the organizers emphasize that this is not just a one-day event, but rather an effort to nurture an opposition movement necessary. To confront what many consider the greatest threat to American democracy in modern times.
