University Entrance Exams Postponed to June

With the aim of facilitating the preparation of twelfth-grade students and other applicants for university admission. Given the current circumstances in the country, the University entrance exams have been postponed until June.

This was announced today at a press conference by René Sánchez Díaz, Director of Admissions and Job Placement at the Ministry of Higher Education (MES).

He specified that the exams will be held on Friday, June 5th (Mathematics); Tuesday, June 9th (Spanish); and Friday, June 12th (Cuban History).

Sánchez Díaz emphasized that the admissions process remains largely unchanged. It maintains its fundamental characteristics: rigor, transparency, and accessibility.

He noted that, once again, passing the entrance exams will not be required for university admission. That, numerically, there is one place available for each applicant. Although the results will help determine whether the program of study best matches the student’s aspirations.

In this regard, he explained that the first round of admissions will be for those who pass all three exams with a minimum score of 60. The second round for those who failed. And the third round for anyone who wishes to enroll, taking into account any remaining unfilled places.

He also stated that approximately 5,000 places will be offered through direct admission to graduates of university colleges. Winners of international competitions, top graduates of Technical and Vocational Education, among others.

According to the information provided, 96,305 places will be offered: 38,682 for undergraduate programs and 10,068 for advanced technical programs. More than 43,000 correspond to the part-time program, and approximately 4,000 are for the distance learning program.
