CRAIS Presents Institutional Thesis Repository in Holguin

With the aim of consolidating a space for research and academic transparency. The Center for Resources for Learning and Research in Health (CRAIS) presented its Institutional Thesis Repository.

This new type of university library, equipped to integrate technological infrastructure, human resources, spaces, equipment, and services. Features a digital platform designed to preserve, organize, and disseminate the scientific output of the University of Medical Sciences of Holguin (UCMHo).

Also the repository compiles undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral theses, classified by specialty, year, and author. A principle that allows for quick and open access for students, faculty, and researchers to scientific results generated in the northeastern region.

Regarding the relevance of the CRAIS (Resource Center for Learning and Research in Health). The head of the Educational Technology area, Master of Science Pedro Rafael Martínez Lozada, explains, “It was created in response to the need to adapt the university library of the Center for Medical Sciences Information (CPICM) to a new space and trend in Higher Education. One that shapes university teaching based on learning, research, development, and innovation.

One of its primary objectives is to provide students, faculty, and the university community with a learning experience through interaction with information sources. Whether printed, digital, in person, or through various technological and information resources.”

This Resource Center for Learning and Research in Health, belonging to Infomed Holguin and the first of its kind in Cuba in the health sciences. It strengthens the visibility of knowledge, prevents the loss of documents, and promotes the reuse of information for new research projects.

While other Learning and Research Resource Centers (CRAIs) exist in the country. Located in universities in Pinar del Rio, Cienfuegos, and Granma, the one in Holguin, created in June 2025, is the first of its kind at a medical sciences university. This repository undoubtedly reaffirms the role of the CRAI as a driver of equitable access to knowledge and academic innovation.
