The National Electric System is connected from Pinar del Rio to Holguin

The National Electric System (SEN) is now interconnected from Pinar del Rio to Holguin. Ensuring continued service to hospitals, water treatment plants, and other vital facilities in the eastern province.

Davielquis Cortina Cobas, director of the Load Dispatch Center at the Holguin Electric Company. Informed the Cuban News Agency that the synchronization was completed around 6:00 a.m. Via the 110-kilovolt (kV) line from Las Tunas and the Holguin 220 kV substation.

He explained that approximately 50 megawatts (MW) of load capacity are being maintained in the province. With priority given to hospitals and the pumping systems of the Gibara Dam and the Pedernales water treatment plant.

Also he noted that the supply is also guaranteed in circuits supplying water to the city and municipalities such as Mayari and Antilla. As well as to industrial and security facilities. Nationwide, the National Electric System (SEN) is progressing with the synchronization of key thermoelectric power plants (CTE).

The Varadero and Jaruco units were brought online early this morning. While unit three of the Ernesto Che Guevara CTE in Santa Cruz continues its startup process.

In Mariel, unit eight began operations at 7:00 a.m., and at the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes CTE in Cienfuegos, units three and four started up. The latter had been offline for maintenance since last year.

Cortina Cobas specified that unit six of the Diez de Octubre thermoelectric plant is already contributing approximately 70 MW to the SEN. While Felton, in Holguin, is undergoing cleaning of its regenerative air heaters (CARs). With the aim of starting up at noon and synchronizing during the evening, conditions permitting. At the time of publication, the National Electric System (SEN) had just over 100 MW of synchronized capacity. And thermal generation is expected to increase as the units complete their startup processes.

The strategy prioritizes essential loads such as hospitals, water treatment plants, and basic services. While progress is gradually made toward normalizing the SEN.
