Cuban Civil Defense General Staff Denies Alleged Official Statement on “Zero Option”

The Cuban Civil Defense General Staff denied a statement circulating on social media warning of a supposed “zero option” due to an energy collapse.

The alarmist text details a catastrophic scenario that would include the complete shutdown of transportation. Widespread power outages, cessation of water pumping, and extreme tightening of food rationing, among other measures.

“It is important to point out that the National Civil Defense General Staff has not issued any communication with that content or in that format. The actual statements from this institution are characterize being technical, measured, and specific. Regarding meteorological phenomena or concrete situations, and are publish exclusively through established official channels. Such as the Cuban government website, the Granma newspaper, and the verified social media accounts of the institutions,” reported Cubadebate.

“The supposed ‘Zero Option’ referenced in the false message is not part of the official vocabulary of Civil Defense or any Cuban government institution.
