Teleworking: Cybersecurity Recommendations

The Ministry of Communications and the IT company DATYS highlighted on their social media the importance of implementing security measures. For teleworking, a modality that has gained relevance in the current context of the country.

Among the recommendations shared was keeping the company’s antivirus software updated. A habit that helps prevent infections and ensures the protection of work information.

They also suggested locking the computer screen whenever the employee leaves their workstation. Even for brief periods, as a security practice that complements existing domain policies.

Also the experts advised using USB drives exclusively for work purposes. Avoiding their use on personal computers, in order to reduce the risk of data loss and virus spread.

Another key measure was the prohibition of using Classified and Restricted Information (CRI) on ordinary computers. Which protects secret, confidential, or restricted documents. Regarding email, users were urged to be wary of messages requesting credentials. And to report them to the entity’s IT security team as part of spam and digital fraud prevention.

Guidelines included keeping laptops and other equipment away from accessible windows. Ensuring their protection during transport or while in vehicles to prevent physical incidents.

It was recommended to disconnect equipment during power outages and reconnect it only once service has stabilized. To prevent damage from high voltage.

Finally, it was indicated that any cybersecurity incident must be reported to the immediate supervisor and the company’s IT Security Department. As part of the institutional protocol.

The institutions invited users to share these and other tips they use while teleworking to strengthen the culture of digital security in the country.
