The “Actúa Diferente” project in this Holguin municipality fosters sustainable food production. To support nutrition within social protection networks.

The initiative, implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP) on the island. Funded by the Koica agency, provides producers with work tools. So they can supply fresh produce to schools and social programs. That provide food security to vulnerable people, primarily the elderly.

Since its implementation, these support networks in the municipality have benefited. From the acquisition of vegetables, root crops, greens, and grains. Also which arrive directly from producers like Gilberto González. Who regularly supplies them from his agroecological farm.
