Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez met this Monday with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. On the sidelines of the High-Level Segment of the 61st session of the Human Rights Council.
During the meeting, Rodríguez expressed his “great satisfaction” with the exchange. Also reiterated Cuba’s support for the promotion and respect of multilateralism. The role of the UN, and the purposes and principles enshrined in its Charter.
“We agreed on the importance of strengthening international cooperation. As a solution to present and future global challenges.” The top Cuban diplomat emphasized on social media.
Likewise, both officials expressed their concern about the accelerated global geostrategic reconfiguration. Also based on the US doctrine of imposing peace through force. Its immediate impact on countries of the Global South. As well as on international peace, security, and stability.
Rodríguez used the meeting to denounce the U.S. government’s blockade of oil imports. A measure that exacerbates Cuba’s energy crisis and constitutes an act of collective pressure against its people.
In his address to the Human Rights Council, the Cuban Foreign Minister warned that “remaining impassive in the face of these attempts to impose a global tyranny puts all states at risk.”
