The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in the province of Holguin is conducting research aimed at protecting wetlands. Priority ecosystems vulnerable to human activity.

He noted that through the coastal management programs of the Center for Environmental Research and Services. Projects are being promoted to protect wetlands affected by mining and industrial activity.
Zaldívar Martínez explained that the studies focus on monitoring flora and fauna populations. Mangrove reforestation, mitigating the effects of climate change, and the sustainable use of resources.
Moreover he emphasized that the protection projects include environmental education for adolescents and young adults. Through community centers established in coastal areas, where participatory contests and commemorative events are held.
