President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Sunday condemned the statements made by the United States government against Cuba. As immoral and reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to defending its sovereignty.
In a clear allusion to the remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, the Cuban leader emphasized on social media that “those who turn everything into a business. Even human lives, have no moral authority to point the finger at Cuba in any way, absolutely in any way.”
In the post, Díaz-Canel argued that those who are now hysterically ranting against Cuba are doing so out of rage. At the sovereign decision of the Cuban people to choose their political model.
The head of state of the Caribbean nation reminded those who blame the Revolution for the severe economic shortages that they should be ashamed to remain silent.
Moreover in this regard, those who make these statements against his country “know and acknowledge that they are the result of the draconian measures. Full of extreme suffocation that the US has been applying to us for six decades and threatens to surpass now,” he noted.
The president reiterated that Cuba is a free, independent, and sovereign nation. And that it does not accept external impositions. “No one dictates what we do. Cuba does not attack. It has been attacked by the United States for 66 years,” he emphasized. While reaffirming the country’s willingness to defend its sovereignty against any threat.
Network in Defense of Humanity calls for defending Cuba’s sovereignty
The Cuban chapter of the Network of Intellectuals, Artists, and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity (REDH) also called this Sunday for defending Cuba’s sovereignty. In the face of the new threat from US President Donald Trump.
“Also the slightest space cannot be granted to imperialism and fascism,” the publication warns. It asserts that these are not the ravings of “a madman.”
“There is sufficient evidence accumulated over the past few weeks demonstrating that, to conceal his country’s internal crisis. For the Epstein scandal, the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) killings, the irreversible advent of a multipolar world. And the loss of credibility of the United States on the international stage, the American emperor is willing to act like Hitler.”
Cuba has the right to make its own sovereign decisions. We have already seen that the current US administration, the Trump-Rubio duo, cares little for international law, it points out.
The text adds that “for many years we have learned that imperialism acts like a predatory dog. At the slightest sign of weakness, it does not hesitate to attack with brutal rage.”
“We also know that, from its arrogant perspective, the peoples of the Third World, the poor of the planet, are expendable,” it concludes. Faced with the current genocidal and aggressive course of the Trump administration. The Cuban chapter of the REDH (Network for Human Rights) calls on intellectuals, artists, and social movements to join forces and unite in defense of our sovereignty.
“We are part of this heroic people, and from here, from this island attacked and harassed for more than six decades for choosing its own path. The only guarantee we can offer is our willingness to be soldiers of the resistance against aggression,” the statement reads.
“Victory will be ours, all of ours,” the message concludes.
