The community of Melones, in the municipality of Rafael Freyre in Holguin province, held a moving ceremony this Wednesday. There, at the site of the mausoleum that preserves their memory. A tribute was paid to the 13 combatants of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) who fell in the line of duty exactly one year ago.
Moreover the military ceremony was presided over by Major General Víctor Rojo Ramos, head of the Political Directorate of the FAR. Major General Eugenio Rabilero Aguilera, head of the Eastern Army. Also present was the First Secretary of the Party in Holguin, Joel Queipo Ruíz.
Combatants, family members, young Camilitos (members of the Camilito military academy), Pioneers, and the people of Melones gathered to honor their heroes.

Brigadier General Florencio Navas Guevara, Chief of Staff of the Eastern Army. He highlighted the bravery of those who died in a fire. At a construction site storing war materiel for the Holguin Military Region.
Finally today, we pay tribute to the dedication and courage of 13 men. Also who gave their lives for the security of the nation. Their example, as emphasized in the ceremony, remains alive in the hearts of the army and the people.
