Holguin Ends 2025 with the Fourth Lowest Infant Mortality Rate in Cuba

The province of Holguin ended 2025 with an infant mortality rate of 6.42 per 1,000 live births. The fourth lowest in Cuba, with more than 6,000 births in the eastern territory.

The World Health Organization recognizes the reduction of infant mortality as one of the fundamental milestones for increasing reproductive efficiency. Therefore, in Cuba, despite exhibiting low indicators. A comprehensive strategy is adopted from the beginning of pregnancy. Aimed at reducing the risk of fetal and maternal death.
