Freedom Caravan in Holguin Condemns Aggression Against Venezuela

With the national flag held high and chanting slogans of support for the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the face of the recent U.S. military aggression. Young people arrived in Holguin this Saturday, retracing the route of the Freedom Caravan as it did in January 1959.

A group of people from Holguin, including children, students, and workers from various sectors. Accompanied the caravan from its entry into the northeastern province through the municipality of Cacocum to the community of Oscar Lucero Moya, a former military regiment.

Elisbel Durán Borroto, first secretary of the Union of Young Communists (UJC) in the province, expressed the strong rejection by the new generations and Cubans in general of the actions of the U.S. government. Which undermine the democracy and independence of the South American nation in blatant violation of international law.

From the podium, Erley Machado Revé, municipal president of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution. He condemned the aggression against the Bolivarian people and the integrity of their constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro Moros. And First Lady Cilia Flores, acts which, he noted, evoke the imperialist interventions in Chile, Grenada, and Panama.

At a time when the peace of sister nations is threatened. Cuba and Latin America must remain united in a single bond of solidarity. Forged in decades of resistance against external hostility, Durán Borroto reaffirmed.

If on January 3rd, 1959, jubilation flooded the streets to welcome Fidel and his rebels in fulfillment of their promise of justice. Today the Caravan calls upon new generations to defend every space. In the name of the Revolution and just causes, he emphasized.

The occasion provided an opportunity for young people from Holguin. To receive their membership cards from the Young Communist League (UJC). Also to be recognized for their conduct during the recovery phase following Hurricane Melissa.
