Gibara advocates for efficient exploitation of reserves and capacities

The Prime Minister of the Republic, Manuel Marrero Cruz, participated in the 22nd Ordinary Session of the Gibara Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, Holguin, in his capacity as deputy for the district.

The meeting, which was attended by the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province, Joel Queipo Ruiz. Governor Manuel Hernández Aguilera, was also attended by delegates from the territory. Also who endorsed the Economic Plan and the estimated budget for 2026. But not before formulating a series of recommendations.

During his remarks, the Prime Minister reflected on the urgency of increasing revenues and profits. While simultaneously reducing the budget deficit. To this end, he advocated for a more efficient use of the municipality’s reserves and capabilities and for the mobilization of all its productive forces.

Marrero acknowledged the valuable experience of Gibara’s farmers. So whose wisdom should be key to increasing food deliveries “from the field.” He emphasized the vital importance of diversifying exportable products. In which would have a direct and positive impact on the national economy.

The Prime Minister considered that local economic actors are in a position to make a more significant contribution to the municipality’s development. Moreover in turn would translate into greater benefits for the population.

The commercial sector was another topic addressed. Marrero indicated that it must increase its revenue by providing higher quality and more efficient service.

In the social sphere, the president stressed that Gibara must demonstrate a substantial improvement in public health services during the coming year. With special emphasis on assistance for senior citizens and the development of the maternal and child health program.

Futhermore he emphasized the need to find lasting solutions to maintain hygiene in the neighborhoods. He also requested that the assembly and administrations strengthen their ties with the communities. In order to provide timely responses to their main concerns.

The session also served to evaluate the attention given to the concerns raised by voters during the third quarter of this year. It was revealed that approximately 60 percent of the outstanding issues are related to the Water Resources and Aqueduct sectors.

Later in the session, the Municipal Assembly awarded the city of Gibara’s coat of arms to Manuel Francisco Fernández, director of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets in the province. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the cultural and general development of the region.
