Holguin Announces 39th City Salon

The Provincial Center of Visual Arts (CPAP) and the Holguin Municipal Directorate of Culture invite all artists in the province to participate in the 39th City Salon. Dedicated to the 40th anniversary of CODEMA (the Holguin Association of Visual Arts).

The salon will open during Holguin Culture Week. Scheduled to take place from January 12th to 18th, 2026. All Holguin artists, whether residents of the municipality or not, who work in the visual arts in any of its forms are eligible to participate.

Each artist may submit up to three works. Each no larger than two square meters. Upon submission, the jury will assess the suitability of exhibiting one or all of the pieces.

The technical specifications must include: the artist’s full name, title of the work, technique, year, dimensions, and a brief theoretical justification (for video art and performances). In the case of installations, the artist will be responsible for the specifics of the work’s assembly.

Works submitted to the competition must have been created between January 2025 and January 2026 and must not have been awarded prizes in other events. Works from the CODEMA exhibition will automatically be entered into this competition. Provided the artist chooses to participate and complies with the general guidelines of this call for entries.

Also the Jury, composed of renowned artists and specialists, will award a prize of six thousand pesos (MXN). A Baibrama statuette, and a diploma. As well as as many honorable mentions as it deems appropriate.

Additionally, the Florida Paper Artists Association will award a collateral prize of five thousand pesos (MXN) and materials for making handmade paper. This prize will be awarded to works that have used handmade paper. As a predominant expressive element, or in which it forms part of the work itself.
