The Holguin branch of the National Sculpture Exhibition “Codema 40th Anniversary” was officially inaugurated in the Small Hall of the Holguin Provincial Center for Visual Arts.
According to Yuricel Moreno Zaldívar, director of the center. The initiative celebrates the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Advisory Council for the Development of Monumental and Environmental Sculpture in the country. A National Exhibition was organized to showcase the artistic heritage of each region.
“Since CODEMA’s areas of focus are more geared towards large-scale projects and public spaces, including murals. Its support for the development of salon sculpture was crucial. This is why the National Council’s proposal resonated. Especially because it encourages the participation of artists throughout the archipelago,” the director explained.
Moreno added that the Holguin variant is intended to celebrate, first and foremost, the journey so far, the legacy of those who are no longer with us. And the enduring contributions of those who remain.
It also aims to stimulate collective thought on how to revitalize sculptural creation. So that the efforts made in the classroom can then have meaning and be realized for the public good.
At the Salon, which runs until January 2026. Also the public can find pieces by artists such as: Manuel Mendoza Xique, Argelia José Cobiellas, Yunior Infante. Lauro Hechavarría, Luis Silva, Yanely Esquijarosa, José Emilio Leyva, and Bertha. Beltrán, Marcos Lancho, Reinier Naranjo, Vladimir Sánchez, Juan Carlos Anzardo, Yolanda Rodríguez, and Onelio Escalona.
