Holguin to Host National Celebration of Cuban Science Day

The province of Holguin has been chosen as the national host for January 15th, Cuban Science Day.

An article in the newspaper Trabajadores highlights that the selection is based primarily on “the importance and support that the authorities give to science and innovation.”

It is also emphasized that, under very complex circumstances, Holguin managed to create its NUCL3UM Science, Technology, and Industrial Park in 2025. Which is a fundamental link for the realization of development projects.

According to information provided to Trabajadores by Carlos Batista Matamoros, president of NUCL3UM, the mission of the most multifaceted center of its kind in Cuba “is to connect research, entrepreneurship, and the productive sector. To incubate and accelerate high-impact projects. Also facilitating knowledge transfer, management, and commercialization of innovation and applied research for territorial development.”

In Holguin, science and innovation contribute to food production. The transformation of the energy matrix, the use of new communication technologies. Also the sustainable development of mountainous areas, and the expansion of services and attractions for tourism.

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) also recognized Ciego de Avila, Villa Clara, and Havana as outstanding provinces.
