Concha Azul Exports Eels and Sea Cucumber

The Concha Azul Basic Business Unit (UEB) in the municipality of Rafael Freyre, Holguin province, has taken on the export of eels and sea cucumbers. Products that offer significant economic benefits to the country and increase profits for the entity’s workers.

Yosvani Moreno Ochoa, director of the UEB, explained to the Cuban News Agency that the unit is developing this process. As part of its strategic objectives aimed at boosting economic and industrial growth and maintaining its position in the foreign market.

The director indicated that among the main exportable varieties are significant quantities of eels and sea cucumbers. Both of which were in short supply in previous seasons. Although the eel fishing brigade is small, it has more than 45 kilos of this resource.

Also he added that there are difficulties regarding the availability of necessary supplies used in their storage and preservation. Making it essential to import them through partnerships with other units in the fishing sector.

Moreno emphasized that the UEB (Basic Business Unit) is recovering its production capacity through continuous work and collaborative agreements with other fishing companies in the province. Which increase the harvesting and cultivation capacity of various species.

He specified that these resources are affected at certain times of the year due to climate variations. So they are implementing strategies aimed at increasing their capture in areas with higher concentrations of these species.

The Concha Azul UEB is also involved in the harvesting and processing of other marine products. Such as conch, clams, and crab, in addition to fish and shellfish that are widely accepted by customers at the entity’s retail outlets.
