Furniture Company in Holguin Diversifies Production

The Acorde Basic Business Unit (UEB) in Holguin, belonging to the Cuban Furniture Company, is diversifying its production through specialized furniture repair and assembly. Which is sold to both the state and private sectors.

Among the most impactful projects, Gabino Torres Ochoa, director of the UEB, highlighted to CNA the reupholstering of railcars. The construction of houses made from shipping containers. With the repair, assembly, and restoration of furniture for entities in the region’s tourist area.

Torres Ochoa commented that there are programs supporting government priorities and providing services to the Education and Health sectors. For which they replace equipment and carry out reconstruction and manufacturing work on utensils necessary for the proper performance of their functions.

Within its strategic plan, the company maintains ties with the state sector and is expanding its service portfolio to the private sector. Aiming to improve production quality and increase employee wages through competitive market prices.

For the benefit of the company, the manager reported that they are promoting collaboration with businesses and self-employed workers. Which led to their partnership with the non-state-owned company Valent. Valent’s objective is to supply raw materials and inputs for service provision.

Moreover he added that, following the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa, they have undertaken rehabilitation projects for the restaurant belonging to the Palmares non-hotel complex, located in Loma de la Cruz. As well as for the furnishings of the Cabaret Nocturno. These projects remain open to new demands and requests from clients.

The company’s strong performance has led to responsibilities outside the province. Such as the design and construction of furnishings for the Plaza de la Revolución José Martí and the Casa del Che Cultural Center in the Morro Cabaña Historical Military Park in Havana.
