Cuba’s telecommunications company, Etecsa, is offering its customers a new offer. For its Residential Nauta Home Internet service, with postpaid service.
Lidia Esther Hidalgo RodrÃguez, Etecsa’s Commercial Vice President, explained that a common complaint from users of this service is that they lose paid hours of data if they don’t use them. With this new offer, they can accumulate up to 1,080 hours.
She said that currently the most popular plan is the 1 Mbps plan with 40 hours of data. But 35 percent of users don’t use that much time. The new offer allows them to accumulate unused hours.
Also she clarified that customers can still recharge their accounts for more service time per month and remain on their current plan. Those switching to the new plan must visit an Etecsa sales office.
The Residential Nauta service began in Cuba in 2017 and currently has 305,000 connected households. In 2025, more than 18,000 new services were connected. Currently, Etecsa has more than 90,000 pending requests for this service, over 48,000 of which are in process.
The limitations in expanding the service are due to the fact that the connection is made through landline telephones. Which have technical difficulties that are difficult to overcome given the country’s economic problems.
