The first year-end craft fair, organized by the Holguin branch of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC), runs until December 21st with the aim of introducing younger generations to traditional games and crafts.
The event is taking place at the Expoholguin fairgrounds, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. With a special focus on children and mothers, offering a wide range of recreational and participatory activities geared towards this age group.
Carmen Hernández, deputy commercial director of the FCBC branch, told CNA that exhibitors from all over the country are participating. Also with a strong presence from Havana, Granma, Santiago de Cuba, Las Tunas, and Holguin.
She emphasized the importance of an event of this kind, unprecedented in the province. To introduce children and young people to traditional crafts, materials, and textures. Which have fallen out of favor due to globalization and the arrival of foreign trends.
This first year-end exhibition aims to promote the work of Holguin designers. As well as offer an expo and sale of footwear, jewelry, household items, toys, and entertainment for children. To reach its target audience, children under 12 and pregnant women will be admitted free of charge.
For the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets in Holguin, the Fair aspires to become a popular year-end option for families and to contribute to the celebrations of the anniversary of the Revolution.
