The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) have organized a nationwide solidarity mobilization to support the province of Holguin. Which was hit by Hurricane Melissa in late October. The effort has included sending food supplies and organizing blood drives.
Futhermore the CDR’s national leadership made an urgent appeal to its members across the country. To send donations to the affected eastern regions, ensuring the swift and organized delivery of aid.
A delegation from Havana arrived in Holguin with approximately 15 tons of food and essential supplies. This shipment, coordinated by the CDR, contained rice, flour, root vegetables, chicken, ground meat, and clothing for children and vulnerable individuals.
Moreover the donations were distributed in communities in the municipalities of Cueto, Mayari, and Sagua de Tanamo. With additional support from businesses and cooperatives.
In parallel, the CDR organized a massive blood drive in all municipalities. The goal was to reach 100 voluntary donations to bolster blood banks in provincial hospitals, oncology wards, and the Maternal and Child Health Program.
This initiative seeks to address the ongoing need for blood components, so vital for saving lives.
Also the mobilization demonstrates the CDR’s capacity to channel solidarity in times of greatest need throughout the country. Proving once again that Cuba remains united.
