Etecsa Support Brigades bid farewell in Holguin

In a ceremony held at the Plaza de la Revolución Calixto García Monumental Complex, Etecsa support brigades from Matanzas, Las Tunas, and Camagüey were honored in Holguin. These brigades had worked for weeks to restore telecommunications after the devastating passage of Hurricane Melissa.

The ceremony paid tribute to more than thirty unsung workers who, with tools in hand and unwavering determination, re-established connections, repaired fiber optic cables, and restored communication to families, businesses, and entire communities in the province. From cable line 1 in Holguin, vital for the Clinical Surgical Hospital and Customs. To distribution points in the municipalities of Frank País, Gibara, Moa, and Sagua de Tanamo, their work enabled the reactivation of hundreds of services.

Gueorgui Romero Llorente, head of Etecsa’s Operations Department in the province, highlighted the enormous work carried out amidst economic and health difficulties. He expressed his gratitude for everyone’s efforts, including those who joined the effort while ill. Emphasized the discipline maintained, which prevented any accidents during the challenging workdays.

Futhermore he underscored their determination to get up every day and their desire to get things done. Despite the grueling hours of work under sun and rain. He also urged them to return to their provinces with the pride of a job well done and the satisfaction of having laid not only cables. But bridges of hope and confidence in the communities of Holguin.

During the ceremony, members of the three brigades were individually recognized. Including cable operators, linemen, technicians, and specialists whose contributions were fundamental to the restoration of essential services. Demonstrating a commitment and team spirit that exceeded all expectations.
