Holguin returns to calm after Hurricane Melissa

The National Civil Defense General Staff reported this Monday the transition to normalcy in the provinces of Holguin, Granma, and Guantanamo. Following the restoration of vital services in much of the area impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

Santiago de Cuba, however, will continue recovery efforts under the direction of its defense structures. While all provinces are progressing with reconstruction through the active participation of the population and local institutions.

Information Note No. 9 from the National Civil Defense General Staff on Hurricane Melissa

Given that the work carried out in the areas impacted by Hurricane Melissa has allowed for the restoration of vital services in most of them. It was decided to return to normal operations in the provinces of Holguin, Granma, and Guantanamo. The province of Santiago de Cuba will continue recovery efforts under the direction of the Provincial Defense Council and its municipal and zonal defense councils.

The provinces that have returned to normal operations will continue reconstruction efforts with the support of administrative structures, local agencies, and the participation of the population.

Also the work carried out by the governing bodies, the media, and the population is acknowledged for the discipline and solidarity shown. In complying with the measures implemented during the preparation, response, and recovery phases of this event.
