
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez thanked the European Union (EU) on Saturday for its willingness to send humanitarian aid to Cubans affected by Hurricane Melissa.
“Their support assists the recovery efforts that our government is carrying out in the affected areas,” he wrote on the social media platform X. This expression of gratitude complements the shipment, from Belgium, of a 40-ton container of medical supplies, medical equipment, and basic clinical and hospital furniture. To help restore lost capacity in hospitals in the provinces of Granma, Santiago de Cuba, and Holguin.
According to the official X account of the Cuban Embassy in Belgium, the donation was coordinated with the participation of Belgian donor Adriano Fernández. The solidarity group ICS Cubanismo, and the companies Nirint Shipping and BDC Intl. S.A., as well as the Sans Frontière Hospital.

Cuba condemns the closure of Venezuelan airspace by the U.S.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez condemned the U.S. government’s announcement on Saturday to close Venezuelan airspace.
On his social media profile, he described the act as aggressive and emphasized that no state has authority beyond its national borders.
“It constitutes a very serious threat to International Law and an escalation of military aggression and psychological warfare against the Venezuelan people and government. With incalculable and unpredictable consequences for peace, security, and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean,” he wrote.
Futhermore he also called on the international community and the peoples of the world to denounce this as the prelude to an illegitimate attack.
