The National Energy Transition Strategy, based on science and innovation, was presented today. At the Expocuba fairgrounds as part of the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025).

Águila Zamora noted that the country has a program for the electrification of homes within the residential sector. Also with plans to offer solutions to homes isolated from the national power grid.
She pointed out that the municipal strategy focuses on achieving energy self-sufficiency by leveraging the resources of each territory. Regarding electric mobility, there is a nationwide program for the implementation of fast-charging stations. The first phase comprising 24 stations, will be presented. Allowing electric vehicles access to provinces and tourist destinations.
Moreover she highlighted, in relation to other areas, that in the agro-industrial and food production sector, water pumping with solar energy is being practiced. As well as plant recovery, off-season electricity generation, and the development of alcohol production and biogas production from vinasse.
Globally, the Caribbean nation is a founding member of the International Solar Alliance. It develops collaborative projects with international entities, she added. Cuba has a professional and multidisciplinary team. Overseen by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), where different sectors of society converge.
FIHAV 2025 will run until November 29th, the day it opens to the public.
