Cuban President Visits Mayari Municipality

The President of the National Defense Council, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, met this Wednesday with residents of the communities most affected by Hurricane Melissa in the Holguin municipality of Mayari.

The Presidency reported on its social media account that this is the president’s fifth visit to this eastern region since the hurricane made landfall in eastern Cuba. As a Category 3 storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale (out of a maximum of five) on October 29th.

Mayari was one of the areas hardest hit by the rains, winds, and flooding caused by the tropical cyclone. In the communities of Levisa, Cabonico, and El Purio, the Head of State, as is his custom.
