Donations Arrive in Holguin for Victims of Hurricane Melissa

The Universal Company of Holguin is receiving donations from various provinces in the central and western parts of the country. To help with the recovery of the areas most affected by Hurricane Melissa in this region.

Marisol Espinosa Muñoz, the company’s commercial director, told the Cuban News Agency that the supplies are being distributed according to the instructions of the Provincial Defense Council. With the goal of ensuring prioritized and equitable delivery to those affected.

She detailed that they received four bales of recycled clothing from the non-state entity Lácteos Clamanta. Based in Havana, destined for the municipality of Cueto.

The official added that they also received a donation from the business system of the Revolutionary Armed Forces. Sent from western Cuba, which included food, clothing, shoes, mattresses, and other items destined for Sagua de Tanamo.

She highlighted that six gasoline generators were received for the Wholesale Food Products Company. Along with other consumer goods, in addition to zinc roofing sheets with purlins and fixing hooks. Also 430 sheets destined for each affected municipality. More than 3,500 ten-liter containers distributed in Urbano Noris for storing drinking water.

Espinosa noted that the donation also included 40 insulated transport containers, eight of which were distributed among the municipalities of Urbano Noris, Cacocum, Sagua de Tanamo, Mayari, and Banes. As well as 5,000 zinc roofing sheets from Las Tunas, 1,000 fiber cement sheets, and more than 6,000 fiber asphalt sheets, along with nails for installation.

We are about to receive items as part of a donation from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Which includes pasta, mattresses, zinc sheets, 500-liter tanks, 330-milliliter water bottles. Also as well as 1,000 mattresses from the Universal Company of Camagüey and 10,000 plates and 2,000 five- and eight-ounce cups from the Havana Marketing Company, explained Espinosa Muñoz.
