The member of the National Defense Council and Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, traveled to the province of Holguin to oversee recovery efforts following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa in this region of eastern Cuba.
Accompanied by the highest political and governmental authorities of the territory. The tour began in the community of Yaguabo, located in the municipality of Cacocum, one of the areas most affected by the flooding caused by the recent hydrometeorological event.
Marrero Cruz spoke with residents of the area and conveyed his confidence that no one would be left to fend for themselves.
He also inquired about the damage caused by Melissa and the progress of the recovery efforts. Residents reported losing many belongings, such as mattresses and household appliances.

The Prime Minister also visited the town of Floro Pérez, in the municipality of Gibara. There he checked on the conditions and production capacity of the bakery that supplies this area.

He also inquired about the state of housing construction and the situation of public institutions and food producers after the hurricane.
It was reported that there was minor damage to plantain and cassava crops, and the loss of 17 animals.
Marrero Cruz emphasized the need to utilize fallen trees for firewood. As well as to revitalize urban agriculture.
