Holguin Children’s Hospital Adopts Measures

During the cyclone alert phase, the Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja Children’s Hospital in the province of Holguin is adopting the necessary measures. To minimize the potential damage that the powerful Hurricane Melissa could cause as it passes through the territory.

According to Eduardo Ricardo Sarmiento, the institution’s deputy administrative director, the hospital has a good supply of drinking water and water for general use. Among the essential measures established in this phase are the release of beds and the availability of medical transport. In this regard, the administrative official stated that they have approximately 90 vacant beds. It has yet to be decided whether patients and healthcare personnel from the fifth floor will be evacuated to lower levels. Two vehicles are available: a microbus operating during the day with sufficient fuel, and a Geelly car on call at night, also available.

With Hurricane Melissa approaching, the Children’s Hospital continues its organizational efforts. As part of the disaster reduction plan established for these cases in hospital institutions. This will allow essential services and the emergency room to remain operational.
