Air connection with Russia will open tourist season in Holguin

With the arrival of a flight from Moscow, the Russian capital, to Holguin‘s Frank País García International Airport on October 29th. The winter tourist season will begin in this important destination in eastern Cuba.

Miguel Andrés Peña Peña, director of the Holguin airport, confirmed to CNA that the connection, operated by the charter airline Nordwind Airlines in collaboration with the tour operator Pegas Touristik, will have a frequency of one flight every 10 days.

The new connection will represent the resumption of air operations between the Caribbean island and the Eurasian nation. Which will strengthen the northeastern territory as an emerging destination for this important tourist source market.

With a distance of more than nine thousand kilometers between Moscow and Frank País Airport, the main gateway to the tourist hub of Holguin, Nordwind Airlines—with experience operating the route since December 2017—will cover the route using high-capacity aircraft.

The Holguin airport is distinguished by its high level of operational safety and operational efficiency. It has standards comparable to those of developed countries and receives international flights from Slovakia and the Czech Republic during the winter season, he added.
