The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment in the province of Holguin promotes the use of renewable energy sources through scientific projects. That support the feasibility of these practices for sustainable development.

Holguin has more than 200 strategies under development that cover topics such as a science-based government system, food sovereignty. Also the application of agroecological techniques, and natural heritage management.
In the eastern region, priority is given to training and the search for collaboration agreements focused on obtaining batteries and spare parts to ensure the optimal functioning of devices such as solar panels.
