Holguin dominates Las Tunas in the Boxing competition

The local team, reigning champion of the National Boxing Series, decisively defeated Las Tunas 52-24 this Tuesday. In the second round of the eastern qualifiers held at the Fernando de Dios Buñuel Athenaeum in Holguin.

On this card, the Holguin boxers won eight bouts and lost two. One by no-show by Jean González and the other by Yeinier Watson (65 kg) 1-2 against Iracel Parchement.

Elío Neira (75 kg) for RSC, Jairo Munive (70 kg), world champion Jorge Soto (80 kg), and Daniel de la Torres (90 kg). The latter two by withdrawal, repeated their victories from this Monday.

Holguin natives Kevin Zayas (50 kg) also won their bouts for RSC. Néstor Rodríguez (55 kg), Luis Cadenas (60 kg), and Carlos Pérez (85 kg).

According to information provided by Juan Milán Ponce, secretary of the National Boxing Commission. Guantanamo also achieved eight victories in the other bout of the day, dominating Granma 54 points to 24.

Of note are the five RSC defeats in the same first round by Guaso boxers Randy Tamayo (65 kg). Yoan Gainza (70 kg), Jesús Barrientos (75 kg), Xavier Fernández (80 kg), and Eny Gell (+90 kg). As well as the 50 kg Giolvi Salfran, who won by withdrawal.

After these results, the Guantanamo natives dominated with 94 points. Followed by the Holguin natives (92), and Granma (53). The rested Santiago team has 54 points, and the Las Tunas team closes with 24. This Wednesday, Granma vs. Las Tunas and Guantanamo vs. Santiago de Cuba will face each other. Also with a day off for Holguin, which has secured its spot in the National Final, which they will also host.
