Endangered in Cuba, the dengue virus is circulating in 12 provinces, 36 municipalities, and 44 health areas. As is chikungunya, with transmission in eight territories, health authorities confirmed today.
In a press conference, Cuban Deputy Minister of Public Health Carilda Peña stated that there is currently no evidence of the presence of dengue in the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud. The western municipality of Mayabeque, and the eastern provinces of Holguin and Granma.
Meanwhile, chikungunya is present in eight provinces: Havana, Artemisa, and Matanzas in the west of the country. Cienfuegos and Villa Clara in the central region; and Granma, Guantanamo, and Holguin in the east.
