Holguin Draws in Eastern Zone Debut of National Boxing Series

The Guantanamo and Holguin teams tied at 40 points this Monday in the afternoon card of the first day of the Eastern Zone of the IV National Boxing Series. Held at the Fernando de Dios Buñuel Indoor Arena in the City of Parks.

Each team achieved five victories, and for Holguin. The current champions of the event, the national pre-selection members Yenier Watson (65 kg). Jairo Munive (70 kg), and world champion Jorge Soto (80 kg). As well as Daniel de la Torres (90 kg), won their bouts.

In the other match of the day, Santiago de Cuba achieved seven wins out of 10 possible and defeated Granma 49-29. In a day in which Las Tunas took the regulation break.

The indomitable Alfredo Kindelán (75 kg) and Fredy Pérez, both winners for RSC, stood out. As did Yeiriniesqui Anet (80 kg), Leonis Brindo (85 kg), and Jairon Silveira (90 kg), who won by forfeit.

Information from Juan Milán Ponce, secretary of the National Boxing Commission, states that this Tuesday. Starting at 9:00 a.m., Granma and Guantanamo will face each other, and in the closing round. Holguin will face Las Tunas, with a day off for Santiago de Cuba.

The Eastern Zonal Park will take place in the Cuban city of East Park, from where two qualifiers for the final will emerge. Holguin is also guaranteed the right to host the decisive round, scheduled for December 10-17th.
