The history of radio in Cuba is a faithful testament to the technical innovation and commitment of those who have dedicated their lives to this means of communication.
Did you know that these more than 100 years of history are largely due to a teenager? From its beginnings, radio has been more than just a technological advancement. It’s a technical event.
In its early stages, it used wired devices that transmitted data via Morse code. Over time, the invention of wireless systems enabled the transmission of sounds. Giving rise to what we know today as “radiophony.”

This date not only commemorates the birth of Luis Casas RodrĂguez, that teenage genius. But also highlights the importance of those who make radio, even today in the Internet age, the broadcasting medium par excellence.
The technicians of the Cuban Radio system work today with the same dedication that characterized Casas and his family, aware of the responsibility that their work and dedication entails.
