The research work of the health sector in the province of Holguin was recognized at the recently concluded First National Symposium of Scientific Health Societies (CNSCS). Which took place from September 8th to 10th in Varadero.
According to the President of the Provincial Council of Scientific Health Societies, Elianis Ocaña Samada. “On this occasion, where three professionals from the province participated. The Provincial Council of Scientific Societies of Holguin was recognized among the most outstanding in Cuba. For the broad impact and research work carried out by scientists in the health sector throughout the year.”
The Holguin delegation included Dr. Evelyn María Fraga Fernández, with a paper entitled “Medical Ethics in Maxillofacial Surgery. Role of Scientific Societies in Professional Practice”; Wilmar Calzadilla Castillo, Master of Science, with a paper titled “Leadership of Scientific Health Societies in the Generalization of Research Results in Holguin”. Also Elianis Ocaña Samada, PhD, with a scientific paper titled “The Transfer Workshop: A Scientific Event for the Application of Health Technologies.”
In addition, more than 30 research projects from this northeastern region were presented online, from Primary Health Care (PHC) and Secondary Health Care. Their fundamental themes focused on the contribution of Cuban Scientific Societies to the health of the population, Ocaña Samada stated.
The CNSCS, created on September 10th, 1980, coordinates and advises the activities of scientific societies in the sector. Those related to healthcare, epidemiology, teaching, and research. Among other areas of work, led by the Ministry of Public Health.
This event served as a scientific and academic framework for exchanges on the history, development, and functioning of scientific societies and their National Council. To influence the achievement of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs).
Moreover to contribute to the development of the National Health System. And to contribute to the scientific production and visibility of health science. And to the significant development of the continuing and ongoing training of health professionals in their roles.
In summary, the First National Symposium of Scientific Societies of Health facilitated the forging of agreements and the adoption of strategies on the main topics of discussion.
She also highlighted the advances required by science and technological innovation worldwide for the benefit of the public’s health. Highlighted the necessary work of scientific societies in the health sector in seeking strategies for more efficient and systematic work toward a common goal. The development of science and technological innovation for the benefit of Cuban Public Health.
