Díaz-Canel Highlights Cuba’s Admiration and Respect for China

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today highlighted Cuba’s admiration and respect for the people and the Communist Party of China (CPC).

After participating in the military parade on September 3rd for the 80th anniversary of the Chinese people’s victory over Japanese aggression in the World Anti-Fascist War. Díaz-Canel, as part of his agenda in Beijing, visited the CPC Museum and learned about the organization’s milestones and significant events over its more than 100 years of existence. As well as the achievements made in the country under his leadership.

“We can appreciate the Party’s ongoing commitment to guiding the Chinese people in the process of socialist construction with Chinese characteristics. Forging a strong, united, developed, and prosperous country with a broad vision of hope for the future,” the president wrote at the end of the tour.

Likewise, the Cuban President today visited the joint venture Biotech Pharmaceuticals Limited (BPL), a leader in bilateral scientific cooperation. There, he praised the company’s innovative capacity and emphasized that it has gained maturity, stability, and is able to face current challenges.

The company’s core business is related to the application of technological advances contributed by Cuba to the manufacture and sale of biotech products in China, as well as the development of new products.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Bai Xianhong, president of BPL, praised the contributions of Cuban scientists and experts. He also described BPL as the largest collaboration between the two nations in the biopharmaceutical industry. In this regard, recalled the success of the first humanized monoclonal antibody from the Asian giant.

“Nimotuzumab provided an effective cancer treatment to more than 300,000 Chinese patients,” he noted.

After his visit to the joint venture and at the Cuban Embassy in this capital, Díaz-Canel held a videoconference with Cuban doctors and healthcare specialists working in different Chinese provinces. Some of which are difficult to access and have challenging climatic and geographical conditions.

The president later spoke with members of the State Mission about the country’s socioeconomic situation and about cooperation projects between China and Cuba.

The president will hold official talks with his host counterpart, Xi Jinping, and other high-ranking officials from the Asian giant and will celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Cuban and Chinese friends of the island.
