The eastern province of Holguin has its school network, the largest in Cuba with 1,334 educational institutions. Ready to begin the 2025-2026 school year next Monday, September 1st.
According to statements to the press by Felipe Batista Rodríguez, Director General of Education in the province. Aproximately 500 new teachers from universities and pedagogical schools will be added to the classrooms. He also highlighted as a benefit the possibility offered by Resolution 10/2024 of the Ministry of Education. Which establishes additional pay for teachers due to the increase in teaching loads.
To achieve efficient education for an enrollment of 131,000 students, community alternatives have also been implemented. Allowing the hiring of more than 400 workers from different organizations to provide their knowledge in the classroom, primarily from universities and production and service positions.
The director explained that while these actions put Holguin in a better position to address the educational process, the challenge remains the quality of teaching. Also the commitment and work to achieve it in every school.
He emphasized that this new school year will be dedicated to the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. Throughout the year, efforts will be made to consolidate political and ideological work.
Moreover he was also emphatic in stating that in the coming period. Attention will also be paid to teacher care. “It is important to continue working with social plans to assist teachers in each of the territories,” he emphasized.
Futhermore he reported that only three schools in the municipalities of Banes, Calixto Garcia, and Gibara will not operate in their usual locations due to repairs. He specified that during the summer, maintenance work has been carried out in 18 schools to improve their comfort.
