The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced today that the US government’s blockade recently caused serious damage to Cuba’s tourism industry.
In a message on X, the Ministry released two figures that illustrate the negative impact of the White House’s hostility on that sector during the 2023-2024 period.
According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s official social media account, due to this US policy, more than 1,336,545 people from the northern nation did not visit the country.
The complaint details that, had they traveled to Cuban territory, they would have brought in “one billion 730,825,775 dollars from the US market.”
By July 2025, the Cuban community abroad had contributed 141,046 travelers, equivalent to 78.5 percent compared to 2024.
77,253 people arrived from the United States, a figure that represents 80.6 percent of the previous year.
Cuba’s inclusion on the list of state sponsors of terrorism and the update of the list of restricted Cuban entities. Which includes almost all of the country’s hotel facilities, have a direct impact on the development of the sector.
The Cuban tourism industry, as the driving force behind other sectors, has a fundamental impact on the implementation of the country’s National Economic and Social Development Plan and on the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals.
