The United Nations System in Cuba is promoting the “Looking at the World with New Eyes” photography contest on its social media today.
The competition is being held with the support of the Caribbean archipelago representations of PAHO/WHO (Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization). IOM (International Agency for Migration), FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations). UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund), UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), and WFP (World Food Program).
With a deadline for submissions until October 1st. The event also has the support of the 19th November Photographic Edition – Fototeca de Cuba.
Young people between the ages of 15 and 35 living in Cuba are welcome to participate in the contest.
“This is your opportunity to show, with your camera or cell phone, how you imagine a more just, healthy, and sustainable future.” The call for entries on the United Nations in Cuba website states.
It also notes that “fresh, creative images with a youthful perspective are expected. Within the framework of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.”
The text states that the selected works will be part of a special exhibition at November Photography 2025, the largest photography event in Cuba.
Inspirational themes may include collaboration, alliances, and teamwork to achieve common goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
These include initiatives related to universal health coverage and caring for the planet. Which place people as beneficiaries and protagonists of initiatives for inclusion and equity, leaving no one behind.
To participate, contestants must submit up to three high-resolution JPG photos (20 cm wide, 300 dpi). Images must be original and your own, without watermarks, borders, signatures, digital retouching, or artificial intelligence.
If people appear in the images, you must have their written consent (and that of their guardians if they are minors).
Entries for the competition must be sent by email to onucuba@un.org with the subject: UN 80th COMPETITION. The email must include the participant’s full name, ID number, contact phone number, email address, and place of residence.
The awards ceremony will take place on October 24th, 2025, the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
