Infant access to schools in Holguin is expanded

The education sector in the province of Holguin is expanding access to early childhood education with the opening of 700 new spots in daycare centers. The creation of 25 playhouses for children. Ahead of the start of the 2025-2026 school year on September 1st.

Among the territories that met the demand are Mayari, Gibara, Calixto Garcia, Baguano, and Cueto. All with kindergartens in operation, she mentioned.

Approximately 570 children attend these centers, which represent an alternative aimed at increasing the availability of kindergarten spots. As part of the Third Improvement strategy aimed at promoting family conciliation and the incorporation of women into the workforce, she said.

This year, two of these constructions were completed, including Imagina y Construcción, by the Vértice Design and Engineering Services Company, and more are planned.

The implementation of this educational modality had the support of sectors such as Public Health, the Cuban Tobacco Business Group, Public Administration, Construction, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Sugar Agroindustry (Azcuba), Commerce, and the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Cruz de la Cruz added.

For the 2025-2026 academic calendar, which will last 43 weeks, Holguin is preparing the conditions for its 1,334 schools, which will serve more than 136,000 students.
